FILM AND ARCHITECTURE return to 443/646 'How Uncanny'

THE HAUNTED AND THE UNHOMELY

Jaques Tati’s Playtime (1967) shows a modernist Paris. The spaces and places are all repetitious and bland. The viewer and characters in the movie have no real sense of where they are or where they are going. There are no iconic buildings that tell us that we are in Paris, but we are constantly being told that we are. We feel lost in this place.
